The Stories Still Coming
Building a universe beyond the books already written
One of the biggest misconceptions about writing a universe like DOVU
is thinking the story only exists once the book is published.
For me, that’s never been true.
Some of these characters have existed in fragments long before they had names.
Others arrived unexpectedly and changed the direction of entire books.
That’s the strange thing about building an interconnected universe.
One story creates another.
And another.
And another.
Right now, there are nearly 100 characters connected across the Daughters of Violence Universe.
Some lead stories.
Some quietly change them.
Some haven’t even fully stepped onto the page yet.
But they all exist inside the same ecosystem.
That’s why I don’t think of DOVU as a series anymore.
It’s a living structure.
A web of choices, consequences, relationships, and survival.
Every story shifts another one somewhere else.
And honestly?
That’s part of why writing slowed down for me.
Not because creativity disappeared.
Because the depth expanded.
I stopped thinking only about scenes and chapters.
I started thinking about:
timelines
crossover points
family histories
power structures
emotional consequences
Not just for one book.
For all of them.
Some stories are still forming quietly.
Others already feel loud enough to touch.
But all of them matter.
Even before publication.
That’s the part readers don’t always see.
A universe is being built long before it becomes visible.
And I think that’s true for people too.
A lot of what changes us happens internally first.
Quietly.
Before anyone else realizes something is shifting.
That’s where DOVU is right now.
Expanding beneath the surface.
Growing roots before branches.
The stories are still coming.
Not rushed.
Not forced.
Just built with a depth strong enough to last.
You won’t see everything yet.
But you’ll feel the weight of it when the time comes.
